Rich, bold and vibrant describes this red hot new Butter Bell. The Maraschino Red crock makes a standout statement in any season, and it's a particularly festive and fun piece for the holidays. 4" tall x 4" wide, holds a full stick (1/2 cup) of butter. A perfect gift for the gourmand who only thinks they have everything!

Butter left open on the countertop won't keep long... and when refrigerated it tears nasty holes in your bread. Happily, there's a third way — the Butter Bell® butter keeper. What butter needs to remain fresh isn't cold temperature, but protection from the oxygen in air. Using a forgotten, centuries-old technique, the Butter Bell keeps your butter soft and fresh right on the counter for up to a month! Just pour an inch of water in the base, pack the bell with butter, and invert it in the base. The water seals out air, keeping your butter soft, sweet & fresh for up to 30 days. If you're anything like us, you might be thinking something along the lines of "Fresh butter on the counter... for weeks... oh sure..." Yep, we were skeptical too. But we tried it... and it works wonderfully! The only maintenance required is to change the water every third day. You'll soon be recommending Butter Bell butter keepers to your friends. Pleasant Hill Grain offers Butter Bells in an array of exquisite styles & colors to complement your kitchen!

My Grandmother had a Butter Bell that always fascinated me.  I thought it was so pretty and loved how the butter stayed up on the lid and was always fresh and since it was left on the counter, not the fridge, the butter inside was always so easy to spread on your toast.  Making toast at Grandma's was one of those favorite things for me to do as a child, she would set out the Butter Bell with a special plate just for me.

Now I can pass that on to my grand kids.  Little things like this is what children remember, or at least, something I have remembered as a child. The whole idea of the Butter Bell Crock is so simple and I wish I had had one when we made our own butter from fresh cow's milk when my children were younger.

Just place your butter in the lid, a small amount of water in the base and place the lid down inside the base.  The water forms a seal, keeping your butter fresh and the butter never gets hard!

The great people at Pleasant Hill Grain sent me two of their Butter Bell Crocks, one for me and one for one of my readers!  I decided to keep the white one and give the Maraschino Red to one of you.
